BEER RUN OF THE WEEK: WILL ANY OF THESE BEERS BE AS COMPATIBLE WITH OUR “I LOVE MICHELADAS” MIXES AS JLO AND BEN AFFLECK HAVE BEEN WITH EACH OTHER LATELY?

BEER RUN OF THE WEEK: WILL ANY OF THESE BEERS BE AS COMPATIBLE WITH OUR “I LOVE MICHELADAS” MIXES AS JLO AND BEN AFFLECK HAVE BEEN WITH EACH OTHER LATELY?

It’s finally Viernes and the weekend is here! We know that “time is money” and that you value your free time. With that idea in mind, we are starting this biweekly exercise, in which we select 3 random beers and we’ll let you know if they are perfect (or not) for micheladas! We want to save you time, money and effort by just letting you know what you should try and perhaps what beer you should avoid. We are not beer sommeliers nor are we experts of any kind… we just enjoy drinking micheladas especially if it’s for very important research purposes. We will do our best to keep it real and just provide honest feedback from our very own tasting experience.

We selected our local Ramirez Liquor Store on Soto Street in Los Angeles, California as the epicenter of this project. We had one of our team members (who doesn’t know much about beers) go and select three beers that for whatever reason caught his attention. Several hours and a few text messages later, he happily walked out of the store with his three picks.

To stay in the spirit of the Olympics, we gave the three beers either a gold medal, a silver medal or a bronze medal based on how well they tasted with our “I Love Micheladas” mix. Of course, a gold medal is the best, a silver medal is considered second place and a bronze medal would be third and last place. A bronze medal isn’t completely horrible… it just means two other beers had a better connection with our michelada mix. With that said, these are the picks for this week and their respective medals:

GOLD MEDAL WINNER

CERVEZA XTECA ORIGINAL (5% ABV)

SD Craft Beverage Company’s Cerveza Xteca Original is a San Diego brewed Mexican-American Lager that is crisp and smooth. The presentation, colors, and the beautiful Aztec Queen on the label were all definitely captivating. We tried it with both our tasty Red Miche Mix and our OG Brown Mix. It definitely worked with both but Cerveza Xteca Original and our Red Miche Mix was a match made in heaven! The smoothness of the beer just made you want to keep on sipping on that michelada. It’s definitely a great choice for all your michelada needs. There was no question that this beer deserved the GOLD MEDAL!

SILVER MEDAL WINNER

GEORGE LOPEZ LIL MEXI LAGER (5.2% ABV)

We had no idea that George Lopez had his own line of American lagers! So as soon as we came across it, we knew that we had to try it! It has a lime aroma and somewhat of a bitter delicious flavor. We tried it with our tasty Red Miche Mix and our OG Brown Mix. For those of you that enjoy drinking lagers, you’ll definitely enjoy it best with our Red Miche Mix. If you’re into the really spicy flavor, you might prefer it with our OG Brown Mix. Both mixes brought out the flavor of the beer in a way that we weren’t expecting. George Lopez, your beers left us saying “I got a pain in my shest and I can’t breefffff” from how enjoyable they were. Congrats on your SILVER MEDAL win, sir!

BRONZE MEDAL WINNER

ORION DRAFT BEER (5% ABV)

The controversial Olympics 2020 are currently taking place in Tokyo, Japan, so might as well give a Japanese beer a try. Orion draft beer is from Okinawa, Japan and it is a crisp tasting beer with a creamy foam and rice aroma. It has the flavor that you expect from a rice based lager. We tried it with our tasty Red Miche Mix and our OG Brown Mix. We felt that it worked best with our OG Brown mix because the spiciness of the mix brought out the beer’s natural flavor. Both mixes were definitely worthy of trying out though. We are proud to present Orion Draft Beer with a much deserved BRONZE MEDAL.

As all three beers make their way to the podium to receive their medals, let’s hear the crowd roar!!!!! (PLEASE INSERT VERY LOUD CLAPPING AND CHEERING HERE.)

In conclusion, all these beers were refreshing and deserve a space in our fridges. All three created a michelada that was savory and left you wanting to grab another one. They all did a phenomenal job at ensuring that we were left satisfied. Go out and support these beer companies. Don’t forget that our “I Love Micheladas” products can be purchased at your local latino supermarkets or can be ordered online by visiting www.ilovemicheladas.com/collections/products. Now go try them all yourself and let us know what you think!

Like always, feel free to give us feedback and even recommend a beer than you think we should try out in the future. ¡Salud, familia!
